Stop Politicizing the NYS Youth Empowerment Programme, CS Kariuki advices.
Ndaragwa February 15, 2017

Public Service, Youth and Gender Affairs Cabinet Secretary Mrs. Sicily Kariuki on Wednesday made an extensive tour of Ndaragwa constituency to engage youth and women and to sensitize them on the role of her Ministry and how they can access the services offered.
Mrs Kariuki singled out the Youth Empowerment Programme which had transformed the lives of our youths across the country.
Speaking to youth and women at various centers in the constituency, Mrs. Kariuki reassured Kenyans that the program which has enlisted over 92,000 youths across the country, with savings amounting to over 1.5 billion through their SACCOs will not be phased out.
Underscoring the importance of the program, CS Kariuki declared that under her watch, this program which is of national importance, would continue serving the interest of the youth of this country.
”This program is from the National Government and it is not for political purposes. I feel sad when petty politics are used to smear it's reputation. I call upon you youths to stand up and defend it as your project,” CS Kariuki told youth cohorts in various centers.
She urged them to be wary of politicians bent on using them to tarnish the programme's reputation.
Meanwhile, CS Kariuki dispelled allegations of misuse of the Affirmative Funds urging wananchi to ignore those peddling lies that they are given for political purposes.
Speaking to cohorts at Subuku market which was her first stopover, CS Kariuki advised them to be patient while their payments are being processed and assured them that they will be paid promptly. She directed the area NYS Sector Commander to find a lasting solution to challenges facing the cohorts for the smooth operation of their daily activities.
The CS also addressed youth and women at Warukira, Shamata shopping centre, Mairo Inya and Shauri before proceeding to Ndogino market where she exhorted youth and women to form groups and apply for the Affirmative Action Funds.
During her entire tour, the CS was accompanied by Ndaragwa MP Waweru Nderitu, the County Commissioner, Mr Samuel Kimiti and the Deputy County Commissioner, Mr Tobiko among other leaders and professionals from the county.
Besides her busy schedule, Mrs Kariuki took time to visit children from Muruai Primary School who were excited to mingle with her.
