Embu County 25th Jan 2017.
Public Service, Youth and Gender Affairs Cabinet Secretary, Mrs. Sicily Kariuki who has been drumming up the MVRII in Embu County, on Wednesday joined President Uhuru Kenyatta during his visit in the county to rally residents to register as voters.
The President has been leading a massive campaign in the Central and Eastern regions urging unregistered voters to register.
President Uhuru called on the residents to turn out in large numbers for the success of the exercise.
After seeing off the President and his entourage, CS Kariuki joined Huduma Mashinani event held at Embu stadium where she issued Affirmative Action Funds cheques worth over Sh.5 million to women and youth groups in the county.
Advising the beneficiaries, CS Kariuki enlightened them on the importance of prudently using the cash to achieve economic empowerment.
She decried the low pace of the residents on applying for the loans which do not attract any interest and challenged them to form groups in order to benefit from the funds to uplift their welfare.
Echoing President Kenyatta’s advice to the youths, CS Kariuki told the attentive crowd to heed the wise counsel to refuse to be used by politicians bent on causing divisions.
Mrs. Kariuki cautioned the youths in the area against gambling with their votes noting that enlisting as voters was crucial to determine how they wanted to be part of our governance systems.
Runyenjes MP Cecily Mbarire, Embu Deputy Governor, Ms Dorothy Nditi were among other local leaders and government officials who accompanied CS Kariuki.
