Principal Secretary, Public Service and Youth Affairs Dr. Francis Owino in a meeting with officials from Child Investment Foundation Fund(CIFF) and German Development Bank (KfW) where they discussed areas of partnership in a project targeting out-of school teenagers 15-24 years olds mostly from informal settlements to venture into self employment activities

Youth Enterprise Development Fund (YEDF)

YEDF was officially launched on 1st February 2007 as one of the strategies of addressing youth unemployment through provision of credit and equipping the youth with appropriate skills to creatively engage in economically viable activities. The Fund is one of the flagship projects of Vision 2030 under the social pillar.

Objectives of YEDF:

  • Provide loans to youth owned enterprises
  • Facilitate marketing of products and services of youth enterprises in the domestic and international market
  • Provide business development services and entrepreneurial training to youth enterprises
  • Facilitate employment of youth in the international labour market through the Youth Employment Scheme Abroad
