By Marianne Kisanji
The NYS Youth Empowerment Programmes will resume in two months following a directives to President Uhuru Kenyatta.
The Ministry is working on how to improve the programme by addressing the challenges that afflicted it before its implementation was suspended a few months ago.
Cabinet Secretary, Sicily Kariuki who was on a familairization tour of projects in Mtwapa township in Kilifi South Constituency on 20th January 2016, said more constituencies would be added. She was accompanied by the newly appointed Director General of the National Youth Service Mr. Richard Ndubai and the Area MP Mustafa Iddi.
The CS made an extensive fact finding tour of Mtwapa ahead of a planned clean-up exercise of the area through the youth empowerment programme.
The Ministry is targeting to have the programme in all the 290 constituencies in the country by the end of this year.
Mrs. Kariuki said that they would partner with all the Members of Parliament and pool resources together for the successful implementation of the programme.
She however appealed to politicians not to politicize the projects in order to allow the youth to participate for their own benefit.
Mr. Iddi lauded the government for engaging the youth in activities that have transformed their lives. The ODM MP pledged to work with the government in order to bring development to his contituency.
