The Government is committed to supporting the youth to lead decent lives in order to contribute to the economic development of the country by engaging them in productive activities.
This was said by the Principal Secretary for Public Service and Youth, Mrs. Lilian Mbogo-Omollo during the launch of the President’s Award – Kenya (PA-K) project sponsorship that was held at the Awards House on 15th January 2016.
The program complements government’s efforts to harness the potential in youth through programs like Youth Enterprise Fund, Uwezo Fund, Kenya Youth Empowerment program, 30% access to all procurement in public tenders and National Youth Service.
The Principal Secretary emphasized the government’s commitment to partner and support the Award program noting that the greatest challenge facing governments across the world is how to provide opportunities for young people to lead decent lives and contribute to the economic development of their countries.
“We are encouraged by the focus of the Presidents’ Award-Kenya program to create a critical mass of young people from the national to the county level to promote the development of the Award programme across the country,” she said.
The Chief Guest was Mr. Muhoho Kenyatta whose sponsorship targets 200 participants in 10 counties. The PA-K project is a self-development and character building programme available to all young people countrywide, equipping them with positive life skills to make a difference for themselves, their communities, country and the world.
Also present was Principal Secretary for Education, BelioKipsang and former Head of Public Service, Amb. Francis Muthaura among others.
