Gender PS tours SGBV Center at KNH
The PS, Gender Affairs Zeinab Hussein toured Kenyatta National Hospital, Gender Based Violence Centre (GBV) to familiarize herself with what the institution was doing to provide integrated support to victims of gender based violence.
The PS was received by KNH CEO, Lilly Koros who took her round the wards that deal with gender related cases as well as the SGBV centre where survivors get emergency treatment and psychosocial support.
The PS listened to the harrowing experiences of survivors and what the centre does to restore their health and offer support after treatment.
She expressed satisfaction with the work done at the centre and noted that this model ought to be replicated in all counties to treat survivors and offer them support and aftercare services.
The KNH SGBV centre was launched two months ago by the First Lady Mrs. Margaret Kenyatta to alleviate the suffering of survivors of gender based violence. It is among the few response centres in the country. Other centres include Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital, Coast General Hospital and JaramogiOgingaOdinga Teaching and Referral Hospital.
