President Kenyatta Says No Withdrawal Of Any Government Service From Huduma Centres

President Uhuru Kenyatta has reiterated the government’s commitment to transform the way public service delivery is provided to Kenyans through the Huduma Mashinani Programme under the Ministry of Public Service, Youth and Gender Affairs.

HE the President, who graced the Huduma Mashinani Programme in Meru town on Friday, stated that since the Government was elected more than six years ago, it initiated the Programme aimed at decentralizing it’s services and taking them closer to the citizens.

The President, who was accompanied by the Cabinet Secretary Prof Margaret Kobia, Chief Administrative Secretary Hon. Rachel Shebesh and Meru County Governor Hon, Kiraitu Murungi, assured Kenyans that not a single service being offered at the centers across the country will be withdrawn.

During the event, President Kenyatta presided over the distribution of sanitary towels to school girls besides disbursing affirmative action funds of over Ksh 44 million in aid of women and youth groups in the County.

On her part, Prof Kobia pledged the Ministry’s support to the President’s agenda of empowering women and the youths of this country, which earned him the recognition during the launch of-global partnership through which the UN seeks to get every young person into quality education, training or employment by 2030.

“My ministry which has changed the way of offering services; we have launched an outreach programme that brings commonly sought after public services to Kenyans at the grassroots and sub- county levels using the popular Huduma Mashinani model,” affirmed Prof Kobia.

Others who spoke were Meru County Governor Hon. Kiraitu Murungi, CAS Hon. Shebesh and the County Woman Rep Hon. Faith Kawira.

Also present were Principal Secretaries Dr. Francis Owino for Public Service and Youth, Hon Safina Kwekwe for Gender Affairs among other high ranking National and County government officials.
